Applications are invited from suitably qualified and skilled candidates for this position at the Hatcheries, as part of the Kariega operations. The Team Leader: Maintenance will be responsible for maintaining and inspecting the hatchery equipment to ensure performance to world-class standards.

An artisan qualification (Trade Test) is required, as well as 3 years' maintenance experience in a ventilation/refrigeration environment, preferably in incubation. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Results Required:

• Maintain hatchery equipment maintained to
original equipment manufacturers specs;
• Comply to service interval requirements of each
individual machine types;
• Address maintenance issues according to
incubation risk;
• Ensure that allocated job cards are timeously
attended to;
• Oversee site housekeeping as per BRC factors;
• Run critical spares stock levels and balances
with stock levels with import suppliers;
• Raise potential spare issues to management
attention;
• Initiate emergency procedures when equipment
issues occur;
• Responsible for all NOSA 5 STAR rating
requirements;
• Identify and report on Risk related issues.

Critical Competencies and Skills:

• Knowledge of electronics and PLC controls
• Understanding heating/cooling principles
• General Maintenance skills –welding, fitting,
plumbing etc
• Basic Computer literate in Excel and Word
• Computer literate in Incubation programmes
