About the position

The Head of Risk & Legal is required to establish, implement and maintain a risk management framework, perform risk monitoring and provide legal support to the business.

Job Responsibilities: Main areas of responsibility will include:

  • Risk management:

Implementing and maintaining a risk management framework within the business in accordance with the Group Governance Framework
Evaluation and implementation of Risk Policy Suite
Maintenance of the risk register and the monitoring of risks
Maintenance of the risk events register and monitoring of risk events
Reporting to management and the holding Company on risk related matters
Assisting business in creating processes to mitigate the identified risks within the business o Training of employees on risk policies and the risk management framework
Administrative duties related to the above
Advise business on regulatory changes which may impact risk management within the business
Administrative and governance duties related to the above

  • Legal:

Review and drafting of contracts and legal documentation as required by the business Provide opinions to business on legal matters
Manage litigation matters and debt collecting
Liaise with external lawyers and Group Legal on legal matters Maintenance of contracts and contract registers
Reporting to management on legal matters
Administrative and governance duties related to the above

Qualifications and Experience

  • Law degree (required)
  • Computer literate and must be proficient in MS Office (required)
  • Experience in a risk, legal or compliance role in a category I or II financial services provider environment (required)
  • Admitted attorney, compliance or risk management qualification or designation (advantageous)

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and ability to interpret legislation (required)
  • Knowledge and understanding of general risk management principles (required)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Financial Services Industry (required)
  • Knowledge of other legislation applicable to the business, e.g. Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, Companies Act, employment law (advantageous)
