About the position

Key Skill Set & Summary of Areas of Responsibility
People Skills:

  • Management of staff complement of approximately 50 people inclusive of all factory staff, supervisors, maintenance technicians, buyer and administrators.
  • Responsible for staff development and growth through guidance and/or training.
  • Conflict resolution and discipline, as well as assisting and guiding supervisors with this task.
  • Management of disciplinary hearings, leave of factory staff, overtime etc.
  • Effective and clear communication skills.
Production and Logistics Management
  • Planning and forecasting of production against order requirements, ensuring product is produced timeously for daily dispatch against order fill targets.
  • Liaise with respective clients on their order status, collections, queries etc.
  • Management of all stock from receipt through to dispatch.
  • Raw material and Packaging management and planning.
  • Management of line efficiencies and associated tasks.
  • Reporting on production performance, staff performance and other KPI’s
Maintenance and Plant Operations
  • Managing the maintenance schedule for the plant inclusive of technicians and contractors.
  • Getting quotes and providing motivations for equipment upgrades or new equipment.
  • Manage and lead the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) team and all the system requirements within it.

Relevant tertiary education and experience level
  • A formal degree, diploma or equivalent in production management or a qualification in food technology with a focus on production management.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in a production management role.
  • Experience in a food preparation environment with low and high care regimes would be preferred.
